Shopify app and storefront development

Custom Shopify apps with billing and OAuth, headless storefronts on Hydrogen, theme work where it earns its place. Built around the merchant operator, not the agency invoice.

Looking for a Shopify app developer, a Shopify Hydrogen agency, or a headless Shopify storefront developer? Shopify is a great platform for merchants and a frustrating one for agencies who treat every store the same. We build for the operator: custom Shopify private apps that automate back-of-house, public Shopify App Store apps with proper OAuth and billing flows, headless storefronts on Hydrogen when content needs to outrank a stock theme, and theme customization where it earns its place.

We have shipped Shopify integrations across indie brands, growing Shopify Plus retailers, recipe-led specialty stores, and AR/VR brand experiences. The merchant runs the day to day; we build the back-of-house so they do not have to call us every week, and we are not on retainer for store maintenance.

Cases below are anonymized examples of merchant-led builds, not theme reskins.

Common questions

What does custom Shopify development cover?
Custom Shopify development covers private apps that extend back-of-house workflows, public apps published to the Shopify App Store with billing and OAuth, headless storefronts (often on Hydrogen and Remix), and theme work where the stock template cannot meet the brand or performance bar. We focus on builds the merchant can run themselves once shipped, not engagements that require us on retainer.
When should you build a custom Shopify app instead of using an existing one?
Build a custom app when an existing app does 80 percent of what you need but the missing 20 percent is operationally critical, or when subscription costs of multiple apps exceed the cost of one consolidated build. The decision should be ROI-driven: a one-time build amortized over the lifetime of the store often beats a 49-dollar-per-month app you outgrow in six months.
What is a headless Shopify storefront and when does it pay off?
A headless storefront separates the customer-facing site from the Shopify admin: products and orders live in Shopify; the storefront is a custom React or Hydrogen application. It pays off when content outranks a stock theme (long-form editorial, complex landing pages), when SEO and Core Web Vitals matter, or when the brand needs UI patterns that the theme architecture cannot deliver. Below that bar, a well-built theme is faster and cheaper.
How do you handle multi-region or multi-currency Shopify storefronts?
Shopify Markets handles most multi-region and multi-currency cases without extra engineering. Where it falls short (separate catalogs per region, region-specific app behaviour, custom payment routing), we build a region adapter in the storefront layer or a small middleware that maps requests to the right Shopify instance. The pattern depends on whether you have one store per region or one Markets-enabled store.
