Spiritism community platform

Paid membership platform for a spiritism community. Live sessions, recorded archives, member directory, Stripe subscription billing, ritual scheduling, and region-aware content gating. Built for moderation at scale in a sensitive vertical most agencies will not take on.

Next.js · Stripe · Supabase

What is a membership community platform?

A membership community platform hosts a paid community in one place: live sessions, recorded archives, a member directory with privacy controls, subscription billing, scheduling, and graduated moderation. It replaces a stitched-together Discord and Patreon setup with a platform the community owns.

The problem

A spiritism community needed a membership platform that handled live sessions, recorded archives, paid subscriptions, ritual scheduling, and region-aware content. Off-the-shelf community SaaS could not respect the cultural practices or the moderation requirements; most agencies declined the work due to vertical sensitivity. The community had outgrown a generic Discord plus Patreon stitch-up.

The approach

We built a Next.js platform with Stripe subscriptions, Supabase auth and storage, region-aware content gating, member directory with privacy controls, ritual scheduling tied to lunar and seasonal calendars, and a moderation toolset that allows graduated trust levels. Live sessions stream with chat sidecar; recordings archive automatically with consent. UX language and visuals match the community practice, not a template.

Stack and engineering choices

  • Next.js application
  • Stripe subscriptions
  • Supabase auth and storage
  • Region-aware content gating
  • Lunar and seasonal scheduling
  • Graduated moderation toolset
  • Live sessions with sidecar chat

Outcome

The community runs at scale on the platform their leadership trusts. Moderation works without third-party flags; subscriptions are predictable revenue; live and recorded content live in one place instead of split across tools. The platform is theirs, not rented from a generic community SaaS.
