Energy sector billing, Ukraine
Billing and account-management systems for energy distributors and retailers in Ukraine. Tariff calculation, meter intake, customer portals, multi-channel notifications, regulator-aware reporting, integration with national clearing pipelines. Built to clear audits in a regulated, scrutinized sector.
The problem
Energy distributors and retailers in Ukraine work in a heavily regulated environment with national clearing pipelines, tariff complexity, meter intake from many sources, and audit requirements that change yearly. Existing billing systems failed regulator audits, missed clearing windows, and routed customer notifications through manual queues, which created billing disputes and regulator findings.
The approach
We built billing and account-management systems on .NET and MSSQL: tariff calculation engines that handle regulator-aware formulas, meter intake from physical and remote channels, customer portals with multi-channel notifications (email, SMS, push), regulator-aware reporting, and integration with national clearing pipelines. The audit trail satisfies both internal compliance and external regulators with the same dataset.
Stack and engineering choices
- .NET billing core
- MSSQL transactional ledger
- Tariff calculation engine
- Meter intake (physical + remote)
- Multi-channel notifications
- Regulator reporting integration
- National clearing pipeline adapter
Outcome
Clearing windows are met without manual reconciliation; tariff updates propagate via configuration, not engineering tickets; customer notifications scale from a single account to the full base without operator drama. The audit trail closes regulator reviews on first submission instead of pulling the team into multi-week remediation.
